Hello!

Well we've been internetless for a while! but we have been busy, at the moment a few of our mates are out here staying with us so we're enjoying showing them around and visiting a few islands and beaches.
In the past few months people have slowly been moving out of our condo so its getting a bit emptier on the week days but no one leaves permanently everyones always back on the weekends and its back to the usual open room family which we all enjoy.
Since the last blog post i've (Gilbody) been doing quite a bit of work and Deacon has taken up teaching english!
Here's some stuff we've been up too, in no particular order i'm afraid

The evening after a reggae festival in Ban Pae, no photos from the festival i'm afraid it was awesome though danced on the beach into the early hours of the morning.
Another view of the road from a new lens i got a few weeks ago
Night market outside the grand palace one of the most interesting ones i've been to
Redecorating. . well moving the bed and fixing it with a machete
The people i work with on some events
Work at the airport i've taken photos of  asean (Association of South East Asian Nations)  mod officials, army generals and some prime ministers arriving for a summit also a few weeks before i was taking photos of colorectal surgeons arriving for an annual conference google it if your unsure :)

Horrible zoo animals were kept so poorly we left very quickly it was advertised as a crocodile farm but they had tigers bears and all sorts
we did spend alot of time feeding the crocs tho that was fun, living dinosaurs!
Ayutthaya Historical Park

This is from a staff party that p'san organised i was the hired photographer was a tiring but very fun night, they definitely do staff parties better than any i've ever seen!

P'Tar's Niece/Nephew? i should probably check before i let her see this.
Playing guitar with P'Sand and P'Joke at a Uni end of term party for their environmental group

A bit of sight seeing at work up north in Lumpan

Well thats all for now there is alot more but the internet is painfully slow here, we'll try get to a cafe once a week and keep this up to date again

P'key monk ceremony

I thought we would kick off this blog with these happy face's, from left to right P'palm, P'joke and P'mon there of the nicest guys you will meet and a big prt of the open room family.
We were heading out to a ceremony in which one of our friends P'key was becoming a monk.
Becoming a monk is a well respected and uplifting time so there were many happy faces and laughs.

:)
Im sure monks aren't supposed to smile at the ceremony but there was no stopping Key.
This ceremony was different to the monk ceremony we went to previously there were many people becoming monks this time.

This temple was different also it was alot more moderm looking than most we had been to.
P'Key bottom corner.
We both couldnt help but smile.

This doesn't even come close to how happy I was.
Monks aren't allowed to touch women, so they found some stand ins to make sure that didn't happen.

After the ceremony we went to eat, I really cant remember why i was pulling that face, but it definitely wasn't the food, that was delicious.
And for the night we headed to the floating markets of Amphawa, it is a brilliant little market where you can buy all sorts.

Tasty Sweets
The lighting everywhere is very peaceful

Overall another beautiful day in Thailand :)

Love

When martin and phil came to stay

Were backtracking a bit to the end of november to when our friends martin and phil came to stay, they arrived on the 22nd of november and planned to stay for two weeks (which we all felt wasn't long enough anyway) but they were given an extra week because of the protests which are all finished now!
Yesterday was election day for a new prime minister but we haven't been paying much attention we just know the clubs pubs and restaurants in bangkok weren't serving alcohol for a night! so we jetted off to the south for a night but more of that in another post!

It was a good sight to see Martin and Phil tired but grinning as always.

Happy welcoming's to the Kingdom of Thailand
A little visit to Bangkok, the beginnings of the christmas decorations
Connect four is definitely more fun on Koh Samet beach at night.
Especially when there's someone doing this next to where your sitting
Plenty of enjoying the beautiful sea
Koh Samet was so relaxed and it was nice to just chill out for a few days away from the manic atmosphere of Bangkok

Laos

The time rolled around for the two of us to do our visa run and we made a trip of it taking the boys and some friends with us,

Laos (the vientiane as its also known) used to be ruled by france and you can see the french influence everywhere from the roads to the massive arch de triumph knock off ;)

Next to where we stayed was a Japanese Tea & Coffee house which we chilled out at for a few hours before heading off around Laos for a bit of sight seeing.

Martin and Phil enjoyed their time so much that they will be returning next month! and bringing a few others with them, we look forward to seeing more of our friends soon!

Peace
